It’s been a long 9 months but Liam is now off TB meds

Normally when you go to the docs and get put on antibiotics its for 3 maybe 5 days. Liam was taken to the infectious diseases unit in Crumlin and due to him going onto Biologics meds for JIA (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis ) his markers for TB were escalated and it was deemed that he needed to go onto Isoniazid for 9 months!!!!

We were stunned and while there is potential issues and side effects the benefits outweighed these so we trusted in the docs and went with it.

Well now the 9 months is over and today he took the final tablets and threw away the little pot we kept them in as a little sign of success.

JIA has been horrible and so many kids live with it daily and we would never have known about JIA if not for Liam and the pain he was in. This is a little celebration for us and we are going to take it. Lets hope the next few years are pain free for him..

Happy days
