Back at Football again
Liverpool vs Everton, Liverpool vs. Man Utd, Celtic vs. Rangers – Just some of the derbys around in the world of football but last night it was Ashbourne Utd vs. Ratoath Harps FC…..
Well we are back to football again and after a uncertain summer Dylan has a new team in Ratoath Harps FC. Dylan was playing for Killegland Under 14’s this season with myself as manager and jodi looking after all team admin and a assist coach but it all fell apart at the last min for various reasons. After scrambling around we managed to get him into a great local club in Ratoath Harps FC. They needed Under 14 players, we have an Under 14 player so the match was perfect.
Training from his managers is brilliant but I must admit it is strange that I am having to be the “parent” on the sidelines this season after spending many years as a coach for his teams i find myself biting my lip and not giving instructions so I deliberately remove myself from the sidelines and stand well back, something a few more parents could try doing……..!
Yesterdays match was brilliant – We played local rival Ashbourne Utd at their home ground and it was brilliant, Ratoath Harps scored inside of a min – then again a few mins later and Ashbourne were rocked as they played a strong team who play a couple of leagues higher. They got a penalty and scored and then scored again to level but Dylan was moved up front and scored the winner with a lovely chip with swerve over the keeper and off the inside of the post. His dream is to play football and this performance was amazing last night – more than that the whole team worked together and really ground out a hard fought victory , it was great to see Dylan break the scoring duck and celebrate with new team mates and friends, happy days ahead me thinks…..
